A people-first approach to help you deliver Value to the Market in a Predictable manner
Our services aim to empower the talented people inside your organization, with a people-first approach to consulting.
At its core, our goal is to help companies deliver Value to the Market in a Predictable manner.
We help you do those things by empowering your cross-functional org to run in lock-step toward value capture.
We help PE firms understand what to look for in software companies. What makes an exceptional software company? What are the keys to Value Creation so that you can get the best exit value?
We can customize repeatable ways to ensure your companies are able to "deliver Value to the Market in a Predictable manner."
Examples: CPO onboarding, standard templates for Roadmap and Board sessions, portfolio speaking engagements, knowledge-sharing sessions, bespoke portfolio company engagements.
Today's options for Product Management training are limited and lack a hands-on approach to both learning how to grow as a product management leader and how to apply that knowledge to showcase your abilities.
At The Null Product, we engage with people at any level of their career development to offer 1:1 career coaching and group-based classes across dozens of product management topics.
We avoid the bloat of throwing people at problems, which costs you more and slows down the work. Instead, we leverage people with deep expertise who can be nimble, who can leverage their experience to diagnose issues quickly, and who understand what works and what doesn't work.
We know how to apply "what works" in a way that makes it yours and is tailored to your business needs, letting experience and Null Product Frameworks guide but not dictate the end result. We want you to be efficient (the same way that we value efficiency), and that means helping you navigate the complex by focusing on what truly moves the needle.
Want to know if you need our help? Read through the following scenarios. If one of these applies, please reach out, and we can help you unlock the value of product management within your company. Projects range from a few hours to several months.
We struggle to identify the last time we delivered something to the market that excited our customers, that our sales and customer success teams could sell to prospects and current customers. What are we doing with all these resources?
We are constantly late in delivery on our roadmap. Work keeps getting pushed back. When we do deliver, it's just an MVP that doesn't move the needle, and we have a lot of abandoned MVPs that are underutilized by our customers.
We had a clear vision when we started out. We found product-market fit. We grew and matured. We are ready for that next level of growth, but we don't know what that is. We have too many strategic priorities - or none at all! We need focus so that we can continue to grow.
We have a large or growing portfolio of products, but we don't know if we are over-investing or under-investing our product and development resources to get the biggest impact. We have grown organically and haven't right-sized our teams. We kind of know what is a growth product, a mature product, or a product in decline, but we haven't turned that into specific actions to optimize our offerings and set ourselves up for the highest ROI and financial outcomes.
We have been sales-driven in our product development, but we want to be a product-led software company. Our product managers are "project managers" who execute on work, rather than "product managers" who understand the market, our strategy, our customers, and how to protect and grow our business.
We were growing and the future was bright, but as we've matured, we've started to see customer dissatisfaction, retention issues, or competitive pressures that are taking our market share. We need to understand the drivers of churn to protect our business and set ourselves up for growth.
We got started, and we were excited, but our initial results were poor. Customers didn't care. We haven't figured out where to truly unlock the value in our products.
Our internal use of AI is sporadic and ungoverned (people are doing different things and potentially exposing our information to public models). We need to figure out how we can use AI to work more efficiently.
The Null Product
Obviously, product management focuses on the customer, but you are running a business.
People forget about the money, and then they make bad decisions based on their gut and untested hypotheses. They forget about their customer. They spend and spend. Little of what they deliver matters because the customer rejects it. I wanted water, but you gave me a half-empty can of soda.
This is the plague of software companies as they grow: an abandonment of the customer and a failure to remember that, at the end of the day, it's all about the money.
